Machine Shop

SMS Gears is located within a 2-mile radius and has sophisticated machining and casting facilities and highly skilled technocrats to manufacture and assemble gearboxes at our factory. Our machine shop unit is spread over 8100 sq. meters (87000 sq. Ft) with built-up area of about 8175 sq. meters (60300 sq. ft) . The foundry division is spread over 18580 sq. Meters (200000 sq. Ft) with a built-up area of about 1860 sq. meters (20000 sq. ft). Today SMS Alloys is one of the largest producers of WCB Castings for water well and mining rig Accessories combined. At our SMS Gears unit, we machine all of the castings produced by us today.

• Mori Seiki from Japan - 630x630 Horizontal Machining Centre.
• Hwacheon from Korea - Horizontal Turning Centre.
• Ace Micromatic, BFW, LMW from India - CNC Vertical Turning Centre, CNC Vertical Machining Centre, CNC Turning Centre.
• Fortuna From Germany - CNC Cylindrical Grinding Machine.
• Voumard From Japan - CNC ID Grinding Machine.
• Conventional HMT Geared Lathes, Turret Lathes, Horizontal Boring Machine, Conventional ID/ OD Grinding, Radial Drilling Machines.

Our machining capability ranges from a maximum turning diameter of 10 upto 1000 mm in diameter. The entire production process undergoes dimensional and position tolerance testing with precise and advanced measuring instruments like the 2D Height Master. Our machine shop is equipped with PTO and ROTARY HEAD Gearbox testing running at 1500 RPM. We also conduct coating tests and roughness tests.
